Hi! It’s @lunchesandlittles here again sharing something I love – SMOOTHIES! Smoothies are a colorful, delicious and yes - FUN way to serve up all sorts of goodness to even the pickiest of eaters and today I want to talk all about them…

I’ve been serving up smoothies in our home for years now, like this one and this one. My husband and I enjoyed them pre-kids, and now we all enjoy them as a family. And it isn’t just the finished product – my little ones love the process of making them, and I have to say that making smoothies is probably one of the most mess-free way to get kids involved in the kitchen (talk about a win-win!).

And, when it comes to smoothies there really are no rules – fruits, veggies, milk, dairy-free milk, ice, no ice, red, purple, yellow – anything kind of goes when it comes to blending up these glasses full of goodness. But still, it is nice to have a few good recipes isn’t it? Well, today I am going to share 4 easy, delicious and colorful smoothies that are all tried and tested in our home and kid-approved (yes… even the green one!).

1. BLOOD ORANGE BERRY SMOOTHIE:

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 large blood orange (peeled and segmented)
• 1 cup frozen strawberries (could also use fresh)
• 1 banana (peeled)
• 1/2 tbsp honey
• 1/2 cup milk of choice – I use Ripple Original Milk (@ripplefoods)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend until smooth.
• Poor into glasses and serve immediately. Recipe makes 2- 3 servings.

2. PURPLE CAULI-POWER SMOOTHIE:

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 and 1/2 ripe bananas (peeled)
• 1 cup frozen blueberries (could also use fresh)
• 1/2 cup yogurt of choice
• 1/2 cup cauliflower
• 1/2 cup ice
• 1/2 cup milk of choice – I use Ripple Original Milk (@ripplefoods)

• 1/2 cup ice
• 2/3 cup milk of choice – I use Ripple Original Milk (@ripplefoods)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend until smooth.

• For an extra special touch, sprinkle coconut flakes on top of smoothie(s) right before serving. Recipe makes 2 servings.

4. GREEN APPLE PIE SMOOTHIE:

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 granny smith apples (cored and sliced)
• 1/4 cup rolled oats
• 1/2 cup spinach
• 1 tbsp honey
• 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp cinnamon
• 1/2 cup ice
• 1/4 cup milk of choice – I use Ripple Original Milk (@ripplefoods)

• Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend until smooth.
• Poor into glasses, sprinkle with additional cinnamon on top, if desired, and serve immediately. Recipe makes 1- 2 servings.

Smoothies are so tasty and such a great way to get everyone eating their fruits and vegetables. And remember – when it comes to smoothies anything goes. These 4 recipes are delicious, but just use them as a starting point in your kitchen. Make your smoothies your own by adding your favorites and/or even doing layered smoothies as shown below. And, always be sure to get your kids involved in the kitchen – their presence in the kitchen can help with so many things, from food exposure to confidence building to being more willing to try new-to-them foods.
